Build Your Own First Aid Kit

I recently read a great article on Flying Giants by Jim Graham regarding putting together a first aid kit to have on hand at the field......below are the details on what's in it as well as a link to the original article....a big thanks to Jim:

Articles in My First Aid Kit
Dixie EMS Dixigear Empty First Responder II Bag, Orange = $14.74
Medline Bulkee II Gauze Bandage 4.5" X 4 Yds $1.89 x 3 = $5.67
Dermacea Sterile Low-Ply Rolls 3" x 4 yds. = $0.45
Covidien Telfa Non-Adherent Pads 4" x 3" (Pack of 50) = $12.12
Covidien Curity Abdominal Pads 5" x 9" (Pack of 36) = $12.85
Medline Sterile Abdominal Pad 5" x 9" $0.62 x 4 = $2.48
Curity Sterile Gauze Sponge 2" x 2" (Pack of 100) = $5.98
Antiseptic Wipes (Pack of 20) = $4.91
Curad flex-fabric adhesive bandages - assorted sizes (Pack of 30) $3.55
Bandage scissors = $2.95
Baxter sterile water for irrigation = $5.41
Nitrile gloves = $8.10
Total cost = $79.21
Items in my kit include band-aids for the small nicks and cuts, all the way up to rolls of 4.5" gauze and large wound pads. I have sterile irrigation water included to clean out a wound before dressing it. Spending $80 on a first aid kit might seem a little on the high end, but in my opinion it was well worth the investment. For basically the price of a giant-scale servo, I've constructed a kit that can sit dormant in the storage compartment of my truck, until called into service. Let's hope I never have to make that call again.
